Interesting articles here about a Professor in America who lost 27lbs (about 12 kg) in 10 weeks. Previously he was eating around 2600 calories per day and he dropped it to 1800. What did his diet consist of? Twinkies, doritos, oreos. Around two thirds of his calories was junk food the rest was a protein shake, multivitamin and vegetables.

His LDL cholesterol dropped, His HDL cholesterol rose, his triglyceride levels also dropped (fat that is in the blood)  His body fat went from 33.4% to 24.9%.

What does any of this mean? Is it only calories that matter? What would the long term health concerns be? Who knows, but it’s a pretty good indication that if body composition is a goal then calories of any sort play a significant role.
